The companies said it will be highest capacity undersea cable yet across the Atlantic. The coast was not disclosed. This cable known as MAREA, it will be the fastest cable ever to cross the Atlantic. Construction will begin in August, with the work being completed in October next year. The project expands the increasingly enormous computer networks now being built by the giants of the internet. A similar dynamic is at play with the new undersea cable. Currently, two-thirds of all traffic on undersea Atlantic cables is from private networks, or networks run by companies for their own data transmission, and not telecommunications companies. The Microsoft Facebook cable will be called MARIA, which means tide in Spanish. The companies are collaborating in order to accelerate the development of the next-generation of Internet infrastructure and support the explosion of data consumption and rapid growth of each company‚Äôs respective cloud and online services, Microsoft said in a statement to USA today. This cable should deliver better performance and reliability to Microsoft’s cloud services. This is becoming increasingly important to the Windows-maker, as it focuses more on that aspect of its business. From Virgin t Spain Microsoft and Facebook reaches an expectable level.
