Intensive agriculture, deforestation, roads, anthropogenic climate change and urban sprawl are amongst the most significant human activities in regard to their effect on stimulating erosion. Water and wind erosion are two primary causes of land degradation combined, they are responsible for about 84% of the global extent of degraded land. Making excessive erosion one of the most significant environmental problems world-wide.
Glaciers are large masses of snow, recrystallized ice and rock debris that accumulate in great quantities and began to flow outwards and downwards under the pressure of their own weight presently, glaciers occupy about 10 percent of the world’s total land area, with most located in polar regions like Antarctica, Greenland, and the Canadian Arctia. Glacial ice is the largest reservoir of fresh water on Earth. A large piece of compressed ice, or a glacier, appears blue as large quantities of water appear blue. Air bubbles, which give a white color to ice. Some glaciers are as small as football fields, while others grow to be dozens or even hundreds of kilometers long.
