Pokémon Go is a free to play location-based augmented reality mobile game developed by Niantic for iOS and Android devices. It was released in most regions of the world in July 2016.
Pokémon Go was released to mixed reviews according to aggregator review website Meta-critic. The game has been referred to as a social media phenomenon which brought people together from all walks of life. Numerous media outlets referred to the surge in popularity as Pokémon Go Mania or simply Pokémania. The game has been noted as having made augmented reality mainstream.
It was praised by gender fluid groups for letting the players choose a style instead of gender. Compatible with Android devices that have 2GB RAM or more and have Android Version 4.4 – 6.0 installed. Compatibility is not guaranteed for devices without GPS capabilities or devices that are connected only to Wi-Fi networks. Not compatible with Android devices that use Intel Atom processors.
Compatibility with tablet devices is not guaranteed. Application may not run on certain devices even if they have compatible OS versions installed. First step to play game is sign up. After signing up you will want to customise your digital avatar. You can choose your gender, eye colour, hair colour, shirt, hat, shoes and the style of your backpack. Once you have done so you’ll enter the main area of the game The Pokémon Go map.
