10 Best Android Phones 2017

  1. OnePlus 3T

    OnePlus 3T

The OnePlus 3T will be unfairly compared, for now at least, to the phone that came before it. So let’s ignore it. With its powerful Snapdragon 821 processor backed by 6GB of RAM, the 3T absolutely flies through web browsing, gaming and most other everyday tasks. It also has a bigger battery this time around, which is more than enough to get you through a full day of use on a single charge. In addition, the 3T now sports 16MP rear and front-facing camera sensors, a dual-SIM card slot, plenty of on-board storage, and a fast front-facing fingerprint sensor on the front.

  2. Google Pixel/Pixel XL

    Google Pixel/Pixel XL

Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL are here, and they truly are some amazing smartphones. Not only are they the first phones to ship with the Google Assistant on board, they also come with plenty of exclusive software features and some of the best smartphone cameras in existence. Also dropping a cheaper smartphone in favour of an all-singing, all-dancing flagship is Google. Under the hood, they sport some killer specs, too. Both devices have an AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of RAM, plenty of on-board storage and long-lasting batteries. The overall design of these phones may not be the most unique, but they do feel like premium phones through and through.

  3. Samsung Galaxy S7

    Samsung Galaxy S7

The Galaxy S7 strikes an ideal balance of features and performance. Who it’s for: Android fans who want the best phone to date. It’s the best all-round Android smarphone we’ve used, combining a stunning 5.1-inch quad-HD display with a fantastic 12MP camera and a build that oozes quality. The microSD card slot has made a welcome return so you can expand the 32GB of internal storage and it’s rated IP68 for water-resistance. Another improvement is the battery. It’s jumped from 2,600 mAh to 3,000 mAh and can now easily last the day.

  4. Sony Xperia Z5 Compact

    Sony Xperia Z5 Compact

If it’s a smaller phone you’re craving, then the Xperia Z5 Compact may be your dream come true. The 4.6in screen means that it’s far more pocketable than the current generation of 5in-and-larger phones, and the overall quality is unbeatable. Huge 4K displayImpressive finger scannerPoor battery lifeLacklustre design. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the first smartphone to boast a 4K resolution, and it makes the most of it with a large, not to mention absolutely stunning, 5.5-inch display. Sony Xperia Z5, such as its brilliant 23MP camera, a water resistant build and an impressive fingerprint scanner. It’s undeniably premium, but we’re not big fans of the chunky design and all those pixels take a toll on the battery.

  5. Motorola Moto G4

    Motorola Moto G4

    Motorola Moto G4

The original Moto G made us sit up and take notice, redefining what a budget smartphone could do. The G4 continues that fine form, even if the price tag and physical size have swollen since the original. Although the new Moto G4 is more expensive than the third-generation, Motorola is offering a Full HD screen, better processor, more storage and memory. If the 5.5in size doesn’t put you off, simply isn’t a better smartphone you can get for an RRP of under £200.

  6. LG G5

    LG G5

    LG G5

LG took a similar route to Lenovo’s Moto Zs, by allowing modules. It’s a little less convincingly implemented, and there’s only two available, but it’s still a clever idea. The G5 is innovative and interesting with unique features but it’s a shame the design and build feels unfinished in areas. A 5.3-inch 2K display as well as 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. You won’t be disappointed with the spec here as well as the 16MP rear facing camera you have to play with. The design of the LG G5 isn’t to everyone’s taste. But if you like the look of this phone and you’re not put off by the price, you should buy the LG G5.

  7. Huawei Mate 9

    Huawei Mate 9

    Huawei Mate 9

Huawei has done a great job at making its way to the mainstream over the past few years first with the Huawei P9, and now with the Mate 9. Huawei’s Mate 9 is, in our opinion, the best in the Huawei line-up, boasting an impressively large battery alongside powerful internals, an improved dual-camera setup and a sleek, gorgeous design. While its display is ‘only’ 1080p and its software is a bit odd sometimes, we still think the high price tag is worth it.

  8. ZTE Axon 7

    ZTE Axon 7

    ZTE Axon 7

ZTE’s Axon Pro from 2015 was a good phone, but it fell short in a few key areas. It came to market with only one storage option, no expandable memory, and the dual camera setup on the back of the device felt a bit gimmicky. It has a big 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, the latest Snapdragon processor, plenty of RAM, multiple storage options, and yes, expandable memory up to 256GB. It also sports some killer front-facing speakers, all-day battery life, a great camera, and a sleek, attractive design. While certain parts of the software could use a little more polish, the ZTE Axon 7 goes toe-to-toe with the best in the Android market.

  9. HTC 10

    HTC 10

    HTC 10

While it doesn’t quite match the Galaxy S7, the HTC 10 is the second best Android phone you can buy right now. While the HTC 10 is a solidly good phone and a respectible upgrade for M9 owners, it doesn’t blow the competition out of the water. Amazing audioGreat designCamera not impressiveSlight bugs still in system HTC takes third place on our best Android phone list with the gorgeous HTC 10. It has a 5.2-inch 2K display, which makes watching video gorgeous, as well as some strong spec under-the-hood including 4GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.

  10. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

    Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

    Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

There are a lot of great looking phones on the market, but none are as sleek and stunning to look at as the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The Galaxy S7 edge is no longer the semi-gimmick it was before. Although some of the main features are things from the Galaxy S5 Micro-SD and waterproofing Samsung has given fans what they want. It’s now a refined, sophisticated and highly desirable piece of technology. Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge expands on what the curved display from the Galaxy S6 Edge can do. It has found a happy medium at the 5.5-inch size as well as adding in a lot of new functionality for the most innovative screen tech in phones.
