Google Allo is latest chat app for Android and iPhone . When Allo was announced at Google’s 1/0 conference earlier this year, the messaging app was presented as a step forward for privacy.
What is Google Allo
Google Allo is a messaging app which will compete with the likes of Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and iMessage. It also features ‘Expressions’ which are essentially amped-up emojis and stickers that can be used in-chat. There are almost too many ways to send a quick message to someone right now. Though both Duo and Allo are consumer-focussed, there are important differences between the two. Google also allows you to share images, scribble notes on images, send stickers, and has a sticker store, again similar to what iOS 10 has brought to iMessage users.
The launch of Allo comes just weeks after Google launched its video chat application Duo that works even in slow network. While Google Duo focuses on video communication Allo is a complete instant messaging app that is all set to compete with Facebook owned WhatsApp. The intention behind not incorporating features like direct calling or video calls is to redirect users to other Google apps like Duo and Hangouts.
Some important features of Allo are:
Respond to messages without typing a single word. Smart Reply learns over time and suggests responses to text and photos, in your style.
Get creative with the photos you send by doodling on them or adding text.
Say it all with the perfect sticker. Stickers in Google Allo are designed by independent artists and studios from around the world.
Shout or Whisper
Allo is one of the apps that support Google Assistant, a conversational virtual assistant.”Whisper Shout” allows the user to increase or decrease the size of a message to represent volume.
