Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro Review
Samsung’s Galaxy C7 Pro went official in China earlier this year and it has now been launched in India priced at Rs. 27,990. It will be available exclusively on Amazon India from April 11. The smartphone is essentially an upgrade over last year’s Galaxy C7, and one of its biggest highlights is its slim, premium metal design. We got some hands-on time with the Galaxy C7 Pro at Samsung’s official launch event, and here are our first impressions.
Samsung in recent years has tried to offer phones with metal bodies and well-rounded specifications at every price level. The Galaxy C7 Pro noticeably borrows elements from both, the older Galaxy C7, as well as the recently launched Galaxy C9 Pro. As nice as metal body looks, there isn’t anything completely new to brag about. At 7mm, this smartphone is marginally thicker than the Galaxy C7, but is still one of the slimmer models in the market today.
16MP rear cameras have become quite a common fixture on mobile devices. However, the Galaxy C7 Pro comes with a 16MP camera on the front as well, promising impressive selfies. Both the front and rear cameras are using f/1.9 sensors, so they’re pretty high-end. The C7 Pro sports two 16 MP cameras both on the rear and front of this device. The rear camera gets a Dual LED Flash along with PDAF. Both the cameras sport an aperture of f/1.9 and in our initial impressions, we were impressed with both the cameras.
The Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro sports a super slim metal body at just 7mm thickness, rather thinness, gives a premium look to the device. The sleek aluminum body, coupled with the 5.7 display doesn’t feel that big when you are using it on a regular basis.
The Awesome Display
This is one area where Samsung has been really doing an awesome job if you ask me. The Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro comes with a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED Full HD display and it just looks fantastic. The colors are vivid — the blacks are deep blacks and the beauty of this 2.5D display is that it’s really vibrant and immersive. Photos, videos and almost everything you watch on this display come out to be clear and vibrant. The front sports a Gorilla Glass 4 protection and it proved to be quite an equal match against scratches, in our initial tests.
The Hardware Aspects
The Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 626 SoC coupled with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage (as on our test model). The Snapdragon 626 is also built on the 14nm process and therefore its cortex cores very efficiently deliver performance while maintaining a very good battery life.
The phone does provide memory expansion via microSD card slot and can go high up to 256 GB on this one. The synthetic benchmark scores were also in line with the other Snapdragon 6 Series chipsets and it clocked a decent value of 62370. Geekbench delivered 898 in Single-Core and 4326 in Multi-Core respectively.
The handset is packing the octa-core Snapdragon 626 processor with Cortex-A53 CPU cores at a clock speed of 2.2 GHz each. This makes the Galaxy C7 Pro a pretty strong device in terms of raw power. Samsung’s OS optimization should also help the CPU run at its best. The device uses the Adreno 506 GPU to handle the graphics on the device.
The Galaxy C7 Pro comes with a massive 3,300mAh battery under the hood, which gives it a distinct advantage over the competition. It might not be on par with some 5,000mAh monsters, but will still get the job done for most users. There’s fast charging on board as well, which has become a common feature on flagships but is seldom seen on mid-ranged offerings.
The Galaxy C7 Pro uses the reversible USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. The company has been mindful enough to offer a 3.5mm headphone jack as well so that the users can charge the phone using a conventional cable and still be able to listen to music.
The connectivity options for Samsung C7 Pro includes 4G LTE, dual SIM Support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and a USB-C port. Although it does support NFC, it doesn’t feature Samsung Pay unlike its other Galaxy cousins like the Galaxy A5 and A7 series..
