A Bad Moms Christmas arriving November 2017

Santa can add some names to his 2017 naughty list: three Bad Moms. On Friday evening, STX Entertainment and Kristen Bell announced A Bad Moms Christmas, a sequel to last summer’s box-office sleeper comedy. The film is being fast-tracked for a Nov. 3, 2017 release date. Original writers Jon Lucas and Scott Moore are back on board.

These Bad Moms need less parental guidance

Bad Moms, while nowhere near as funny as Bridesmaids, does a more-than adequate job at continuing the trend. After years of comedies about juvenile men and their bad behaviour, Paul Feig’s Bridesmaids was hailed as the start of a new era: one in which on-screen women could be as outrageous and as immature as their male counterparts. It’s easy to be sceptical about the fact that this inherently female story is being told by the two directors behind the very male comedy The Hangover – but Bad Moms feels like its heart is in the right place.

Bad Moms Review

Amy has a seemingly perfect life: a great marriage, a career, over-achieving kids and a beautiful home. But she’s over-worked, over committed and exhausted to the point that she’s about to snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other over stressed moms and they go on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities on a wild, un-mom-like binge of freedom, fun and self-indulgence putting them on a collision course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her clique of devoted perfect moms. The film’s many slow-mo “women go wild” montages also feel a little flat and forced – as if someone is brandishing a Laugh Now sign. Instead, Bad Mom’s real humour comes from the absurdist bits of dialogue.

Bad Moms 2 Is Coming in 2017

Bad Moms fans, rejoice! Your favorite comedy about defying gender and societal norms by having fun and being cool and hot is getting a second installment next year. At least, that’s according to the film’s star Kristen Bell, who tweeted about it today. And while Bad Moms 2 is a fine title, we’re fond of Worse Moms, per our previous post on the subject. Part two is set to hit theaters on November 3, 2017, which seems like a really long time from now but is totally enough time for you to watch the first one a few hundred more times, should you be inclined.
