China-based Coolpad to enter India with affordable smartphones
Coolpad Group Limited will launch affordable smartphones under its Dazen brand. The company also announced the appointment of Varun Sharma as the Chief Executive Officer who will be looking after the India operations. The Shenzen-based company manufactures its devices and has more than 6000 patents in mobile technology. It is looking forward to set up a R&D centre and manufacturing unit in India soon.
Coolpad partners Videocon to manufacture smartphones
Chinese telecommunications equipment company Coolpad Group Ltd on Friday said it plans to start manufacturing phones in India in partnership with Videocon Industries Ltd. To begin with, the company will be investing $300 million in manufacturing, research and development, and design. The Indian consumer knows his smartphones well and it is imperative we develop a successful product that is both robust and technically sound. However it all boils down to the price of the product and we have decided to modify that too, as it is Coolpad’s philosophy to bring affordable technology to all, he said.
