Corpus Christi, is a coastal city in the South Texas region of the U.S. state of Texas. The county seat of Nueces County, it also extends into Aransas, Kleberg, and San Patricio Counties. Corpus Christi is 130 miles southeast of San Antonio. The city’s political boundaries encompass Nueces Bay and Corpus Christi Bay. Its zoned boundaries include small land parcels or water inlets of three neighboring counties.

The Feast of Corpus Christi is a Latin Rite liturgical solemnity celebrating the belief in the body and blood of Jesus Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist. It emphasizes the joy of the institution of the Eucharist, which had previously been observed only on Maundy Thursday in the somber atmosphere of the nearness of Good Friday. The feast is liturgically celebrated on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday or, “where the Solemnity of The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ is not a holy day of obligation, it is assigned to the Sunday after the Most Holy Trinity as its proper day”.
Corpus Christi names chemical that may have contaminated water supply
A news release from the city stated the chemical is Indulin AA-86, an asphalt emulsifier. Three to 24 gallons of the chemical possibly entered the city’s water after an incident in the Corpus Christi industrial district. Officials in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Thursday said a chemical used in asphalt may have contaminated the city’s water supply, prompting an advisory against using tap water for everything from drinking to bathing.

Only bottled water should be used for all drinking, beverage and food preparation, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes or clothes, washing hands, and bathing until further notice, said a press release from the city. Wednesday’s advisory applies to more than 300,000 people in Corpus Christi on the Gulf of Mexico coast. The contaminants have not yet been named, but are petroleum-based.

Officials in the Texas Gulf Coast city of Corpus Christi warned residents and businesses on Thursday not to use tap water after a chemical spill was suspected of contaminating the municipal water supply. According to Kim Womack, a spokeswoman for the city, the spill occurred late Wednesday in an industrial section of the city of 324,000 and involved an asphalt emulsifier known as Indulin AA-86.
