Game of Thrones is an American fantasy adventure drama television series created for HBO by showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels, the first of which is titled A Game of Thrones. Now HBO is releasing a Game of Thrones movie into IMAX theatres later this month comprised of the final two episodes of the shows fourth season. The screening will also include an exclusive trailer for the upcoming season. Obviously it is very early to start talking about the plot of the Game of Thrones movie.
This falls more in line with comments made by HBO President Michael Lombardo when he placed the future of a Game of Thrones film in doubt. He’d spoken about this possibility this past March. He explained that the show promises to see HBO subscribers to the end of its events, and that to then ask them to pay an additional expense in order to see the ending would go against this format. Though, to be fair, a continuation of the series was not the plan according to The Daily Star’s source. In fact, the Daily Star further reported that based on information from an undisclosed production insider, the film version of Game of Thrones could very well go back in time in order to incorporate characters who have died already in the series. Game of Thrones has used seven writers over the course of five seasons. In a method that is unorthodox for a television series, the sound team receives a rough-cut of a full season to work on, and they approach it like a ten-hour feature film.
