Indian Telecom Gaint Vodafone Idea Is Now “Vi”

On 31 August 2018, Vodafone India merged with Idea Cellular, to form a new entity named Vodafone Idea Limited. Vodafone currently holds a 45.1% stake in the combined entity and Aditya Birla Group holds a 26% stake.

On 7 September 2020, Vodafone Idea unveiled its new brand identity, ‘Vi’ which involves the integration of the company’s erstwhile separate brands ‘Vodafone’ and ‘Idea’ into one unified brand.

The two companies agreed to merge their operations with a swap ratio of 1:1. This means every Idea share you hold will be exchanged with a new share in the merged company. … The assessment suggests Vodafone India’s business is worth Rs 82,800 crore, while Idea’s business is valued at Rs 72,200 crore.

Amid the ongoing financial crisis, Vodafone-Idea today called a virtual; round table to announce a strategic decision. The telecom major launched a new brand identity—Vi (pronounced ‘we’) for itself this morning. The firm had set off a teaser campaign on the social media late Sunday evening. The telco has till now been advertising the two brands separately. The relaunch, coming two years after the August 2018 merger of Vodafone and Idea Cellular, is to have a combined brand identity and advertising around it. It’s the final step in the biggest integration of two telecom brands, top executives said.

Coming to market reaction, Shares of Vodafone Idea (VIL) rose as much as 10 percent to Rs 13.21 on the BSE on Monday. The stock hit its 15-month high of Rs 13.45 in Friday’s intra-day trade. It rallied 75 per cent from its intra-day low of Rs 7.69, hit on September 1. Aftermarket hours on Friday, VIL had announced a fundraising of Rs 15,000 crore of equity and debt instruments each with aggregate quantum capped at Rs 25,000 crore. The fundraising plan and the rebranding is indeed sending out a strong signal that it’s going to be around, possibly for years to come.

Vodafone Idea ia owned by Vodafone plc and the Aditya Birla group.Vodafone has a 44.39 per cent shareholding in the JV while the Aditya Birla group holds 27.66 per cent. The two partners have equal control in the board. The merger agreement suggests the Birlas can buy an additional 9.5 per cent from Vodafone to equalize their stakes.

Apart from this, Vodafone Idea has also brought a Rs 46 plan voucher to the Delhi circle, which was initially introduced for Kerala circle. Under this plan, users will be given 100 local on-net night minutes for 28 days. The night minute benefits can be availed by users from 11 pm to 6 am. This voucher is inclusive of local and national calls during the day at a cost of Rs 2.5 paise per second. Just like the other two plans, the Rs 46 voucher is also applicable for Idea subscribers in the Delhi circle. Users can also opt for a similar plan at Rs 24 that offers the same 100 local on-net night minutes. However, validity is halved to 14 days.

Vodafone Idea new plans

All the existing plans in unlimited category will be replaced by the new plans.

  • Rs 49 monthly plan: This plan will offer a Rs 38 talk time, 100 MB data, 2.5p/sec tariff, 28 days validity.
  • Rs 79 monthly plan: This plan has a Rs 64 talk time, 200 MB data, 1p/sec tariff, 28 days validity.
  • Rs 97 monthly plan: Rs 45 Talktime, 100 MB data, 1p/ sec tariff, 28 days validity.
  • Rs 197 monthly plan: Unlimited Voice (FUP of 1000 mins for off-net calls), 2 GB data, 300 SMS, 28 days validity.
  • Rs 297 monthly plan: Unlimited Voice (FUP of 1000 mins for off-net calls), 1.5 GB/day of Data, 100 SMS/day,.28 days validity.
  • Rs 249 monthly plan: Unlimited Voice (FUP of 1000 mins for off-net calls), 1.5 GB/day of Data, 100 SMS/ day,.28 days validity.
  • Rs 399 monthly plan: Unlimited voice (FUP of 1000 mins for off-net calls), 3 GB/day of Data, 100 SMS/ day,.28 days validity.
  • Rs 379 three-month plan: Unlimited Voice (FUP of 3000 mins for off-net calls), 6 GB data, 1000 SMS, 84 days.validity.
  • Rs 599 three-month plan: Unlimited Voice (FUP of 3000 mins for off-net calls), 1.5 GB/day of Data, 100.SMS/day, 84 days of validity..
  • Rs 699 three-month plan: Unlimited voice (FUP of 3000 mins for off-net calls), 2 GB data, and 100 SMS.Rs 647 yearly plan: unlimited Voice (FUP of 3000 mins for off-net calls), 1.5 GB/day of Data, 100 SMS/day, 84 days validity.
  • Rs 1,499 yearly plan: Unlimited Voice (FUP of 12000 mins for off-net calls), 24 GB data, 3600 SMS, 365 days validity.

Recently there found a trend like major smartphone manufacturers extending the software support for their premium smartphones. Oppo confirmed to Android Planet that the Find X3 series will extend their software support from two to three years in total. Generally, Oppo giving two years of software support for their smartphones. If all works fine as heard, then the latest Find X3 series phones are eligible for at least two Android version updates (Android 12 and Android 13)updates. And Vivo also going the same way for its X-series. Hence the punch hole Camera in the Galaxy M11 making it favorable for many. Moreover Samsung has more brand value than the other phones in the list. At least from my point for view. There is no need for an argument at this time.
